This project on Mountainview Lake in Newbury will soon be home to six detached boutique-style lodging units, two saunas, and a service building. The modern cabins are designed to nestle into the natural landscape, surrounded by native New Hampshire plantings and trees, with walking paths connecting the units to the waterfront and rolling throughout the site.

db Design Group led the project from land acquisition and permitting through construction preparation, coordinating closely with the clients, architect, arborist, engineers, wetland scientists, and local boards and commissions. The project required extensive permitting and coordination within Newbury’s Business District and Shoreland Overlay District, including shoreland and tree-cutting permits, zoning and planning approvals, and reviews with the Conservation Commission and Select Board.

db Design Group developed the landscape design, prepared site and presentation materials, and coordinated stormwater management and erosion control measures. Through careful planning and collaboration, the project balances the needs of a short-term lodging development with the natural character of its lakeside setting. Currently in progress, the project is moving toward construction and will bring a collection of modern, nature-oriented accommodations to Mountainview Lake.
